What's In the Database
Every row in the RIDGE database is a niche — a specific product-marketplace combination (e.g., "resistance bands — US," "electric toothbrushes — DE"). Each niche carries:
- Verdict: STRONG GO / GO / HIDDEN GEM / STANDARD / NO GO
- ML tier: TOP / HIGH / STANDARD / LOW based on v10 model probability
- 12-evidence scorecard: each category scored 0-1
- Risk flags: regulatory, IP, platform, seasonality
- Opportunity flags: HIDDEN GEM, ACCESSORY-ANCHOR, DIY adjacent
- Estimated unit economics: price, fees, PPC bands, margin
Verdict Distribution
Across the 19,441 niches scored:
- NO GO is the modal verdict (most niches on Amazon have measurable structural problems — this is the main finding)
- STANDARD / GO covers most of the viable middle
- HIDDEN GEM fires on roughly 8% of niches, particularly in DIY / craft / décor categories
- STRONG GO is rare (~1%) — reserved for niches with strong demand, low competition, and favorable unit economics simultaneously
